Swedish Fugitive Arrested in Marbella After Dangerous Car Chase
A Swedish fugitive was arrested in Marbella following a high-speed car chase that left five police officers injured. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on Monday, June 3, on Avenida Alfonso de Hohenlohe.
The chase began when National Police officers stopped the fugitive’s car at a security checkpoint, part of the intensified "Marbella Plan" implemented in response to a recent surge in shootings in the area. Instead of complying, the man hit the accelerator and fled the scene, triggering a dangerous pursuit.
During the chase, the fugitive caused extensive damage. He collided with three cars, a police patrol vehicle, and a bus, and also damaged a traffic light and several road signs. Despite the chaotic scene, the five injured National Police officers sustained only minor injuries.
Upon capturing the fugitive and verifying his identity, police discovered the reason for his desperate escape: the 52-year-old was subject to a European arrest warrant related to a drug trafficking case.
