76-Year-Old Woman Found Dead on Costa del Sol; Partner Arrested as Main Suspect

A 76-year-old woman was found dead in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol on Friday evening, allegedly strangled by her 75-year-old partner, who has been arrested as the main suspect.

Investigation sources indicate that the alleged perpetrator strangled the victim before attempting suicide by swallowing pills. He is currently out of danger and has confessed to the crime. According to Pedro Fernández, the government delegate in Andalucía, the detained man left a written confession, stating his intention to take his own life afterwards.

The incident occurred in a house on Calle Juan Sebastián Elcano and was reported to the 112 Andalucía emergency service at around 11:20 p.m.

Sources close to the case report no prior incidents of gender violence. The police investigation is ongoing.
