Russia Launches Massive Aerial Bombardment on Kyiv Amid Escalating Conflict
Russia has launched one of its largest aerial bombardments on the Ukrainian capital since the war began, deploying at least 90 attack drones and missiles against Kyiv overnight.
Ukrainian military officials reported that air raid sirens blared throughout the night as the capital endured its seventh major attack in July alone.
In a related development, the United States is reportedly planning to equip all Ukraine-bound F-16 fighter jets with its most advanced weaponry. This includes aircraft being sent to Kyiv by third countries, which will be armed with American air-to-ground missiles, extended long-range guided bomb packs, and air-to-air cruise missiles, according to the Wall Street Journal. The first batch of dozens of these fighter jets is expected to arrive in Ukraine later this summer.
Meanwhile, the Russian defense ministry claimed today that it had captured another settlement in the Donetsk region, although Ukrainian forces have yet to confirm this development. The village of Pivdenne, which adjoins Toretsk—a Ukrainian stronghold—has been under sustained Russian assault.
As the conflict continues to intensify, both sides are bracing for further escalations in the ongoing war.
