Joe Biden has cancelled his trip to Germany, which would have marked the highest-level meeting of Ukrainian donors to date, in order to focus on the approaching hurricane in Florida.
This gathering was considered crucial for reinforcing the “victory plan” that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented to allies last month, aiming to demonstrate steadfast support for Kyiv and secure additional assistance ahead of winter.
On the battlefield, Russia claims to have taken control of two more settlements in eastern Ukraine. If verified, this would mark another advancement for Moscow in its ongoing offensive in the Donbas region. Ukrainian officials have not acknowledged any loss of control over these villages in their recent statements, but the Ukrainian military has noted that the Kurakhove sector is experiencing some of the heaviest fighting on the eastern front.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasized that Ukraine is facing its most challenging winter since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022. "NATO must and will do more to assist Ukraine. The more military support we provide, the quicker this war will conclude," Rutte stated at a joint news conference in Brussels.
