Child Serial Killer Lucy Letby Faces New Trial for Attempted Murder of Baby Girl
Lucy Letby, a convicted child serial killer, will face trial today over allegations that she attempted to murder a baby girl.
Letby, 34, from Hereford, was previously found guilty in August 2023 of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six other infants at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016.
Her previous trial at Manchester Crown Court lasted 10 months. The jury was unable to reach verdicts on six counts of attempted murder involving five children.
This new trial will focus on the unresolved allegation of attempted murder against the baby girl.
The case has drawn significant public and media attention due to the heinous nature of the crimes and the vulnerable victims involved. The outcome of this trial will further determine Letby’s accountability for her actions during her tenure at the hospital.
