The incident occurred at approximately 11:50 p.m. while the wedding party was celebrating on the ground floor of a holiday rental apartment. The woman reportedly entered a bathroom where candles had been placed as part of the décor. For reasons still under investigation, her dress caught fire, and she was quickly engulfed in flames.
A group of young people discovered her semi-conscious and severely injured in the bathroom. Emergency services were immediately called, and she was rushed to Malaga's Regional Hospital, where she underwent an emergency operation for third-degree burns covering 70% of her body. She was later transferred to Seville's specialist burns unit for further treatment, where she remains in critical condition.
Authorities are investigating the incident, with the primary theory being that it was a tragic accident.
