Sunak Wealth Rises To £651 Million

Sunak Wealth Rises

The personal wealth of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murty, surged by over £120 million in the past year, as revealed by the latest annual Sunday Times Rich List. This substantial increase occurred despite the broader slowdown in the UK billionaire boom due to challenging economic conditions.

According to the list, Mr. Sunak and Ms. Murty's wealth reached £651 million, a

significant jump from £529 million in 2023. This rise can be attributed to Ms. Murty's minority stake in Infosys, the Indian IT giant co-founded by her billionaire father. The value of her shares increased by £108.8 million, nearly reaching £590 million for the year.

However, the couple's wealth still falls short of its 2022 level, when it was approximately £730 million.

Meanwhile, the list also indicated an increase in King Charles' wealth, rising to £610 million from £600 million over the same period.

However, the number of British billionaires declined once again, continuing the trend observed in 2023. After reaching a peak of 177 in 2022, the number dropped to 171 and further decreased to 165 this year. This decline was attributed to some individuals experiencing a reduction in private wealth due to high borrowing rates, while others chose to leave the country.
