Ukrainian Forces Conduct Major Cross-Border Attack into Russia's Kursk Province, Moscow Claims
Kursk, Russia – In a significant escalation of the ongoing conflict, Ukrainian forces have launched a major cross-border attack involving approximately 300 soldiers into Russia’s southern province of Kursk, according to Global247news reporters on the front line.
The governor of Kursk has stated that Russia had to mobilize reserves to repel hundreds of fighters backed by tanks in an area of the border that had largely remained untouched by fighting until now.
Geolocated footage analyzed by the US-based Institute for the Study of War showed damaged and abandoned armored vehicles roughly 7 kilometers north of the border, west of Lyubimovka. While Russian sources claimed these vehicles were Ukrainian, this information has not been independently verified.
“The enemy today launched another attempt to break into the territory of Russia’s Kursk region,” read the latest defense ministry statement. “Artillery fire, army aviation strikes, and drone strikes are being inflicted on the enemy.”
In their evening update, Ukrainian military chiefs reported Russian strikes on border villages but did not mention any offensive operation at the border. Military authorities in Sumy, which lies across the border from Kursk, reported that Ukrainian forces had destroyed a Russian ballistic missile, two drones, and a helicopter in the region.
As the situation continues to develop, the true scale and implications of this reported cross-border attack remain unclear. Both sides have yet to provide conclusive evidence of their claims, and the international community watches closely as tensions escalate further.
Meanwhile Global247news reporters in Sumy have reported how they were under siege from inbound missles which were all shot down by the Ukrainian Air Force Defence.
' At around 2 AM, what appeared to be a ballistic missile was fired into the heart of Sumy, many thought it had taken a direct hit, due to the volume of the explosion but it was once again shot down and Sumy has not suffered any damage.
' We are currently having the longest period of Air raid warning since the start of the war' he announced.
