YEOVIL TOWN FC OWNER MARTIN HELLIER ANNOUNCES ' IT'S OVER'

Yeovil Town FC Chairman Martin Hellier has confirmed that his recent hunger strike has come to an end. Hellier informed Global247news on Friday evening, stating that he had stopped the hunger strike he had initiated only days prior, a decision he first announced on social media.

Hellier reportedly began the hunger strike amidst personal struggles, marking yet another turbulent period in his leadership at Yeovil Town FC.

In a late-night call to Global247news, Hellier, reportedly sounding incoherent and under the influence, stated, “The hunger strike is off.” The call was followed by several other exchanges, with allegations of threatening, racial and offensive remarks made during these conversations.

In addition, Hellier confirmed he had been questioned by Avon & Somerset Police on Friday, reportedly in response to complaints lodged by a former partner. Though his statements on the matter were unclear, reports suggest the investigation involves allegations of abuse towards her, including troubling remarks directed at the partner’s disabled child, in which it's alleged he wished her and her child cancer.

The hunger strike announcement has coincided with questions surrounding Yeovil Town’s recent match against Southend United, where Yeovil’s manager noted that no food was provided for the team. It remains unclear if this decision was influenced by sensitivity to Hellier’s hunger strike.

Hellier’s tenure as chairman has faced increasing scrutiny, with concerns mounting over his public conduct. Allegations of inappropriate behaviour and exchanges with fans and staff have attracted considerable attention, leaving supporters worried about the club’s future reputation whilst the owner is also under investigation from the FA.

As Yeovil Town FC supporters and stakeholders closely monitor Hellier’s actions, many are calling for stability and focus on restoring the club’s standing, hoping for a period of positive change and leadership.
