Van Reg: LC20 VXW Caught Hogging Middle Lane While Eating Sandwich

Motorists on the Motorway  were left frustrated today as a driver in a white van with the registration LC20 VXW was seen hogging the middle lane while casually eating a sandwich. The incident, which occurred around 1:30 PM has sparked outrage among drivers who were forced to overtake from the outside lane.

According to witnesses, the driver appeared oblivious to the traffic building up behind them. “I couldn’t believe it,” said one fellow motorist. “The inside lane was completely clear, but the driver was just cruising along in the middle lane with one hand on the wheel and the other holding a sandwich.”

Motorway lane hogging is not only frustrating for other road users but also dangerous. It leads to unnecessary congestion and can force other drivers to make risky overtakes, increasing the likelihood of accidents. Under the Highway Code, lane hogging is an offence, and those caught can face fines of up to £100 and three penalty points.

A spokesperson for Highways England commented on the situation, stating: "Motorists should be aware that lane discipline is essential for maintaining the flow of traffic and ensuring safety. Eating while driving is also a distraction that could lead to dangerous situations."

The incident has reignited calls for stricter enforcement of lane hogging rules, as many drivers still ignore the requirement to stay in the left lane unless overtaking.

Anyone witnessing similar behaviour is encouraged to report it to the police to help keep the roads safe for all.
