Little Munchkins Deputy Manager Sparks Controversy by Supporting Yeovil Town Chairman Amid Abuse Allegations

Sherry Powell, Deputy Manager at Little Munchkins Childcare C.I.C, has come under fire after voicing support for Yeovil Town Football Club Chairman Martin Hellier on social media. Powell's comments, shared in response to recent allegations that Hellier abused a disabled child while allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol, have drawn significant backlash from both the public and Yeovil Town fans.

In her post, Powell stated, “Sorry to hear this Martin, your YTFC family is behind you - You are a stronger and better person, lots of people are grateful and look up to you.” Her message has stirred controversy, with many questioning her support of Hellier, particularly given her role in childcare.

Lifelong Yeovil Town supporter Shaun Cousins expressed his disbelief, stating, “Unreal. How can a Deputy Manager of a childcare establishment support a man who abuses disabled kids?” Other fans have echoed Cousins’ sentiments, describing Powell’s statement as an example of “blind loyalty” to the club.

The situation has raised concerns about the influence of club loyalty on public figures and the potential impact on institutions like Little Munchkins Childcare. While Powell has yet to address the backlash, community members and advocacy groups are calling for accountability and urging those in positions of responsibility to consider the implications of their public endorsements.

As the allegations against Hellier continue to unfold, Yeovil Town supporters and the broader community are left grappling with the complex dynamics of loyalty, accountability, and the values represented by public figures and institutions in positions of care and trust.
